My car, apparently, did not.
On the way to pick Mom up, my car started making a funny sound whenever I put my foot on the gas after being at a stop. Once we arrived at her place, Mom was kind enough to let us use her car, and we set off for our adventure. It was a gorgeous day, and we drove around for over 4 hours, covering 60-some miles while looking for signs along the way to answer some questions, and stopping at some historic places and parks.
Our third destination was Estell Manor Park, where we got to see the remains of a glass factory that was operated from 1825-1877.
Murray was walking towards me when all of a sudden something moved in front of him. He jumped straight up in the air in fright and then ran to me for protection, but it was only a few seconds before he got his courage back and went after that little rock-like creature, as can be seen in the following video. You'll have to use your imagination to hear his barking, as my digital camera doesn't have sound.
We really enjoyed all the places they had us go to, which included an old school, a church and cemetery dedicated in 1792, the glass factory mentioned above, a veteran's cemetery, a furnace where they made ammunition for the War of 1812, and an old village.
Here are some more pictures from our trip. Remember to click 'em to big 'em.

The countryside is so gorgeous. Looks like the trees are starting to turn colors there now.
Seeing Murray with the turtle is something else. I bet he was scared at the very first.
Hopefully the situation with your car is just a minor thing-a-ma-jig. We don't want any of those high dollar problems.
Oh yes, the best part of trips such as this is eating at a different location...did you and your Mom get to do that?
amelia,
It was weird, the leaves are only changing in different areas, not all across South Jersey. The warm weather we've been experiencing is really screwing up the trees and other shrubbery. Just the other day, I saw forsythias blooming, as well as a day lily, which normally bloom in the spring.
Mom and I didn't stop to eat along the route, mainly because we weren't hungry, but also because of Murray being with us. Instead, we ordered in once we got back to her place...penne vodka...mmm mmm mmm.
As for my car, well, it could've been worse, but it was still too much considering my income isn't what it once was.
So was Christine mad that you didn't take her? Considering she was suppose to go with you originally.
So what was wrong with your car?
Well it now looks like we aren't moving back until spring 2009. You know we want to pay everything off 1st so we don't have that debt to worry about.
texasgal,
Christine's schedule's too busy for her to be getting upset that I didn't take her.
My car needed a tune-up. It's okay now.
Did you tell your mother about 2009??? I'm not too happy about it myself :(
well it's only about 1 1/2 yrs away. When we 1st spoke of coming home, we did tell mom in about 2 years. Papa was the one that kept changing the time. So it's all his fault
