THE AFTER:

If it weren't for the fact that Murray immediately tried to attack Oscar, like he always does, when we walked through the door after I picked him up from the groomers, I would've thought they gave me back the wrong dog. Even his coloring has changed. I miss my scruffy murray :(
The groomer said it may take a couple months to grow back in. I plan to be more diligent with his grooming in the future to avoid all the matting so that I don't have to go to the extreme of this haircut again.

That's NOT your dog!!!!!!!
Take him back and give him to his right owners
Oh, no! He looks so different. Please let his hair grown back out. I am sure his personality is the same (which is lovable) but he appears to be sporting a bald hair-do.
by the time it grows back winter will have come and gone. You better go out and buy him a coat, scarf and mittens.
texasgal,
I haven't got any calls from the groomer saying someone else was looking for their dog, so guess he's gonna stay, whether he's Murray or not...lol.
It's already chilly enough at night that I may have to get that coat you mentioned before long. Either that or I'll just have him wear his pumpkin outfit from Halloween. That would sure be something that'll have the neighbors thinking I finally lost it...lol.
amelia,
You're right about the bald hair-do. It's sorta like those buzz cuts that parents like to give their little boys in the summer. The only place they left any amount of hair is around his ears, so now they look like they were meant for a dog 3-times his size. He could really fly away with them...lol.
I'm definitely gonna let it grow back in.
